Spice Racks

Keep herbs and spices organized in a spice rack

Constantly sorting through a drawer full of spices can get frustrating, not to mention that spices are often lost and forgotten about until they're too old to use. Investing in a good spice rack improves organization and usually increases a cook's use of spices. After all, when spices are easy to find, one is more apt to use them. With so many different spice racks to choose from, how do you know which one is best? Really, it all depends on the look you're going for.

Classic Spice Racks

There are certain spice racks that have stood the test of time. If you're going for a more classic feel in your kitchen accessories, you can't go wrong with one of these styles:

  • A wooden spice rack is a wonderful option for almost any decor. While you can purchase a wooden spice rack, it's really nice to have one that's homemade. Also don't forget that you can get a wooden wall spice rack that will free up countertop space.
  • If you don't have a lot of space, a wire spice rack may be just what you're looking for. Wire spice racks hang on the back of cupboard doors or off the side of your refrigerator. They offer convenient access, but they aren't exactly the best-looking option.

Modern Spice Racks

For those that have a modern gourmet kitchen, you're in luck. There are several styles of spice racks that are meant just for you:

  • If your kitchen is filled with stainless steel appliances, a stainless steel spice rack is the perfect option. Just imagine how the color would pop against black granite countertops. Another hot metal being adding to spice racks is chrome. A chrome spice rack offers a sleek and shiny look that's sure to grab attention.
  • For those who really want something different, and don't have the space for a counter spice rack, a magnetic spice rack is the perfect choice. There are several models to choose from. Some models feature a sheet of metal that mounts flat to the wall, and magnetic pots for the spices. There are also metal shelves with magnetic spice canisters. Either way, this is a hot look.
